This photograph \It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when the “Extreme Frugal” also called “Extreme Frugality” trend started, but one thing is for sure it is gaining momentum and fast. And I would say it is getting even quirkier, perhaps bordering on the bizarre, and to some people “crossing a line.”

Welcome to the world of highly creative consumers!

As you know at Secrets For Money http://www.SecretsForMoney.info I do just that, share “secrets” for making money and saving money and this day is no different.

But reader beware some of you may think these “unconventional” tips are perhaps too radical even when the outcome is less waste and the recycling of goods. Yet I must report that frugality has become not only a way of life, but even a sport and the stakes are high.

So, here are some of the “secrets” of the “Extreme Frugals”~

1 ) Recipes for “Dryer Lint Play Dough” (Dear Reader: If you don’t have 1 cup firmly-packed dryer lint then you can forget about making this play dough!)

2 ) How do you re-use Dental Floss? Well, reports tell us that you use it, rinse it; then dry it on the bathroom shower rod for re-use the next day.

3 ) People calling funeral homes and asking if they can have the flowers after a funeral. (usually the flowers are sent to a hospital, church or nursing home).

4 ) Would you like to know how to cook ham and potatoes on your car engine? Well, there are videos on the internet http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-cook-ham-and-potatoes-on-your-engine-142308/ Or, for a larger repertoire maybe you need this cookbook “Manifold Destiny: The One! The Only! Guide to Cooking on Your Car Engine! “(Simon & Schuster, 2008)

5 ) “Dumpster Diving” has taken a new spin—let’s call it “Curbside Shopping.” Dumpster Diving Groups have already formed such as those on http://www.Meetup.com and if you live in an area where there aren’t any groups, then there is already a waiting list for someone to start a Dumpster Diving group that you can join. And websites galore are popping up for Dumpster Diving where you can read articles on the science and art of Dumpster Diving. Oh yes, and for fun and profit too like this article http://www.thelivingweb.net/dumpster_diving_for_fun_and_profit.html

6 ) DIY (Do It Yourself) is especially innovative over at the Instructables http://www.instructables.com with projects like “Make Foam Look Like Granite”
Or “Quality Duct Tape Wallets” (seriously, look at them—these wallets are chic!) http://www.instructables.com/id/quality-duct-tape-wallet/
